Cataclysm release date leaked by Amazon

Although not quite official, Amazon is claiming that it will ship the World of Warcraft expansion for an estimated delivery of January 5, 2011.

While Halo: Reach might have the hype, and Call of Duty: Black Ops might get the sales numbers, few games – or in this case expansions – are as eagerly awaited as the newest World of Warcraft expansion pack, “Cataclysm.” And if the Amazon e-mail that recently went out to customers that have preordered the game is accurate, January will be a big month for WoW fans.

Blizzard has yet to announce an official release date, but speculation amongst fans of the game on the official forum has been intense. Few games will ever see as vocal, or as well-informed fans, so when Amazon began to send out e-mails confirming that the expansion would be shipping in early January, with an estimated delivery between January 4 and January 18, the news spread quickly.

The actual Amazon page for the game does not list a release date, and other sites seem to contradict this date. Kotaku is reporting that while Best Buy and GameStop have not issued a release date, Target has the date as New Year’s Eve. On the other hand, Buy.com has the release date as November 11, 2010.

Amazon tends to be fairly accurate with their shipping estimates, but the official release date won’t be announced until Blizzcon in October.

Basic Hunter PvP Guide

Yo. I decided to put out a post for the guide competition.
This guide basically includes the basics you need to be a successfull Hunter

Not the best Personal 5v5. But our team disbanded before I reached 2.2k
We decided to make a new one. But some people in our team migrated server :S
Also I'd like to add that getting theese ratings took me about 2 weeks. Which means if I'd play longer with theese guys, and really get to know how they play. We could of achieved like 200-300 more rating.

Mayx's Armory Link:
The World of Warcraft Armory - Mayx @ Kazzak - Profile

As a Hunter, you should really focus on getting a high amount of resilience.
As in most combos people go for a hunter since he is a fairly easy target.
Although dont overdo the resilience, If you got some ICC25 HC Items. USE THEM.
If you deal alot of damage the opponent will go defensive and wont deal as much to you.

This specc is not recommended if you run combos that makes fights last long. For example: DK/Hunter/Pala
However it's good for burst combos in 2's. Enhance/BeastMastery. Ret/BM or MM
The reason to this, is that your not speccing into Efficieny. Which is good to have in long battles.

Beast Mastery is often used if your playing with a Enchance or Ret. Not suggested in 5v5. But in 2v2 Its really good.

CC and Moveability. Typical Survival build w/o Counterattack, suited for any bracket. Focused on lowering trap cd's along with 4-piece for double frost trap godness, and minimizing Disengage cd (in combination with its glyph).

Changes you can make if you dont like it:
0/3 in surefooted. 3/3 in trap mastery. hunting party and master tactician can lose 1 point each and added to point of no escape.

Reccomended Pets

MarksmanShip Burst specc:
Your choise here comes down to two different types of pets

Spiders & Snakes:
Let's look at the spider first. The reason we want to use a Spider is due to his special ability called Web This webs an enemy on the ground for 4 seconds. He can be damaged while under the effect of Web.
And since your pet is in the category "Cunning Pets" it gets yet another ability called Roar of Recovery This gives your character back 30% of his base mana! This is just an awesome sick spell for a pet imo. If you dont bind it and put it on automatic. Your pet will use it when your around 30-20% mana. (NOTE: You need to spec in it.)

The reason we're not using crabs is that it doesn't do as much damage as spiders. Their Pin ability, can be dispelled and will break CC. + The spider get the Roar of Recovery.

Now let's take a look at the snakes/serpents. First of all you will use this pet against casters due to it's amazing debuff Poison Spit Which reduces the enemy's casting speed by 25% for 8 seconds. with a 10 sec cooldown. So it's up almost all the time if it's on auto. Serpents also deal a fair amount of damage. And is very cool looking.

Beast Mastery spec:
I'd say your only choise here would be this pet.

Core Hound
First of all. You will need to be specced into Tame Exotic Which allows you to tame exotic pets. Such as Core Hounds. Also it gives you an extra 4 pet talent points. Which can come in handy.

The core hounds special ability is named Lava Breath It does the same as the Poison Spit. But does more damage. But the main reason we're using a Core Hound is that with Bestial Wrath Active. It does some INSANE damage. Compared to other pets within other specs. Also it becomes very large. So if your playing EnhanceShaman/BMHunter/HolyPala in 3's and the shaman pops wolfs + totems + You get really big from BW. Targetting will become VERY hard for the opposing team.

If you want more information about pets. You should visit Pet Topia

Why these?

Disengage: As of which we assume, you will be using this specc for high burst and survival. And with this. You can disengage away from combat even more often.

Serpent Sting As this will be your base opener on most targets, it's very handy if it lasts longer on your target. As you can do more burst instead of reapplying it all the time.

Aimed Shot Theese days Aimed Shot is used more of a huge damage hit. Instead of just the reduce healing effect. With this glyph it lets you move around even more, instead of standing still using Steady Shot. Due to everything is on cooldown

Bestial Wrath Pretty much explains itself. Bestial Wrath is a BM's hunter most important spell. And to have that CD Reduced, Is very goldworthy. Your going to need it to keep up pressure, if you fail at a kill.

First of all you need a program called Curse Client. The program basically makes it alot easyer for you to download addons from curse.com which is awesome. It even lets you update your addons whit a simple click.

As an MM Hunter you would like to have Serpent Sting up at all times, to increase the damage outcome of your Chimera Shot. The good thing is that CS will refresh SS each time you use CS on a target with SS applied from before. You can decide wether you want to use Aimed Shot or Chimera Shot as an opener. (REMEMBER TO APPLY SERPENT STING)

Serpent Sting:
Its a DoT You will ALWAYS use. Although if your running out of mana, apply your Viper Sting.

Aimed Shot:
If your fighting a double dps team, you can use SS-CS THEN Aimed Shot, due to the reason that they wont be healing so the Healing Reduce is not needed early in the game. However if its a healer/dps team, you might want to apply this first, as it effects HoT's. Which most likely will be the healers first casts aswell.

Chimera Shot:
Only use this if your target is afflicted by either SerpentSting/ViperSting/ScorpidSting. As it effects the outcome ALOT.

Scorpid Sting:
If your getting pressured, or your team-mate is getting pressured by some kind of meele class. Use you Scorpid Sting, then Chimera Shot on the target to disarm it for 5-10 seconds (depending on talents/enchants)

Hunter's Mark:
This can decide the outcome of ALOT of fights, most hunters don't know it but its GOD DAMN IMPORTANT to use this, if the enemy team has no dispeller. TIP: If your fighting a Druid/Warlock combo. And the lock is using his Fel Hunter. And you decided to trap the druid, be sure to put a Hunters Mark on the druid aswell. Cause the lock will try to dispell the trap using Devour Magic. But the DM will eat HM instead of the trap.

Hunter VS Mage:

Open with a Serpent Sting, followed by a chimera Shot. At this point you should be fairly close to the mage, but no to close (5-15yrds). Due to the Mage will try to polymorph you to get a real opener. You Scatter Shot the poly to interrupt it. If he tries again use silencing shot and burst as much as you can. Right now he will most probably Iceblock. When he gets out, he will pop mirrors (most likely) and water elemental. Use Feign Death & Detterence right after to stop his opener, also pop Master's Call to avoid a freeze when you get out. While in the detterence you should also use Readiness to get your silence back up. And when the detterence is over. Just disengage far away from the mage (with master's call on), and burst him HARD with Rapid Fire & AP Trinkets + Kill Command. Then he should die.

His Arena Ratings

Hunter VS Rogue:

Pop a Flare and stand in the middle of it. DO NOT USE ANY TRAPS YET, the Rogue will just disarm them. When he opens on you, which he will manage if he uses sprint into your flare. Wait for Cheap Shot to go away, then trinket the upcoming Kidney Shot. Use you scatter shot, place a Frost Trap, and mark the rogue with Hunters Mark, and walk away from him. He will most likely cloak and restealth. If he does this, turn your back against the flare. and Disengage towards it. If he catches you mid-air. You will still fly all the way to your flare. And when he tries to run over to you. Make your pet WEB/PIN him. When Cheap Shot is over, you got complete control over him. He got no cloak. Just mark him with HM and burst ur shit at him, while kiting him around you frost trap, and use Master's Call when needed (if you get crippling poisoned)

His Arena Ratings

Hunter VS Warrior:

Start on your mount. When he charges you, or you expect him to. Jump at the very same second. Then he will not be able to hit you in his Intercept Stun. After that, be sure to put a HM at him, and open with a Serpent Sting. Make sure you got a Frost Trap on the ground. (Use your traps as a root effect - Entrapment) And stay withing 5-8 yards range of him all the time, as he wont be able to charge you. Blow all your damage CD's in the start to put up pressure. When he uses Bladestorm, pop Detterence and get away with disengage. Right after the bladestorm is a good time to pin/web him with your pet. And just continue your stuff. When your out of cooldowns just pop Readiness. And if your able to, try to use a freezing trap at him when he pops Shield Wall, then Bandage yourself or eat.

His Arena Ratings

Hunter VS Hunter:

If your a night elf, pop shadowmeld when the duel counter is at 2. (Duel Starts 3...2...1...) Then send your pet at him. And start attacking right away, with a serpent sting then Chimera Shot. Then if you want you can feign death, and he looses target of you AGAIN. And then use ur Aimed Shot. When he again targets you, disengage over to him and scatter shot him. Then HM If you can. And use Chimera Shot, then detterence. While in the Detterence you might want to use Rapid Fire, Kill Command THEN Readiness. At this point the enemy hunter shouldn't of done to much to you other than maybe a serpent sting and a chimera shot. When detterence is done, he will most likely try to Scatter Shot you. So disengage away from him, then just burst him down. If he detterences, bandage yourself.

10,000g as a Level 10

I'm creating this guide is to show people how I made 10,000g in 5 days as a level 10 without any assistance from friends or another character.   So without further adieu I'll get into it.

Requirements:
Alright, I'll begin by stating you will need a few things for this method to work.
-Wrath of the Lich King
-A Level 10 or Higher Character

Method:
The main method of farming the gold is through fishing in Wintergrasp, while being zoned in Dragonblight. It's fairly common knowledge that this can be done, but I'm going to show you how to do it on a level 10 and tell you what I did personally to achieve 10,000g step by step.

Leveling:
The leveling portion is pretty straight forward. This guide will work for anyone 10 or above, but you have to get to level 10 first.

I recommend that while you're leveling you get the profession Mining. The reason for this is because it is a very easy way to get 20-40g with little effort and it will be easier to travel with some gold. Copper Ore on most servers sells for around 8-12g per stack and this will start you off. (Personally I mined until I had 5 stacks, sold them at the ah for 11g each.)

Preparation:
After you hit level 10 you should go to your major city and locate the fishing trainer. I stayed in my major city fishing until around 200. I also recommend buying a decent amount of Bright Baubles with the gold you obtained from mining.

You will need either a Mage to create a portal or a Warlock to summon you to Dalaran. I had about 50g from mining Copper Ore as I for-mentioned so I simply offered 10g for a portal to Dalaran and a Mage ported me. You may be able to get this done for free if someone is feeling generous, but it'll take a little longer. Once you get to Dalaran set your hearth.

After you've done that you will need to once again look for someone in trade chat to help you out. This time you're wanting to buy a ride from someone with a X-53 Touring Rocket. Personally I offered 30g and asked the person to take me to the flight path in Wintergrasp. I found a ride easily within 2-3 minutes.

(It took me about 4 1/2 hours of playing to get to this point.)

Starting Out:
Okay, you're to Wintergrasp and have the flight path, what now?

Now is when you start to fish. There will be a couple pictures below showing you where I personally fish. The first one will be when I'm at the keyboard when we control Wintergrasp. The second will be when I'm sleeping, or when the battle for Wintergrasp is under way. It's important to mention that as a level 10 you will not be inside of Winterrgasp, but you can stand inside of Dragonblight and cast into Wintergrasp with the second location. It's also important to mention that no NPCs will agro to you in these locations however be prepared to die while getting to them.

When I started out fishing I used this location. As long as the battle for Wintergrasp isn't ongoing this location is generally safer than the other. But you can't stay here while you're sleeping because when the battle starts you'll be removed from the area.

This location is the one I use most of the time. If I'm going out somewhere and I'm not gonna be home for 5-8 hours I set up here. Occasionally your cast will land before the water, but don't worry because you can actually fish through the rock lol.

When you first start out you will catch a lot of junk. As your Fishing Skill increases the amount of junk you catch will dwindle until eventually you won't catch junk anymore. It's important to mention that when you reach 450 you will still need to use a lure because if you don't you will still catch junk items.

Making 10,000g:
Okay, now that you've gotten started I'll go into the math. This math was done based on someone with 525 fishing.(450 +75 from Lure) The average angler catches 4 fish per minute. So you'll be catching 240 fish per hour. You'll be catching Nettlefish, Musselback Sculpin, Glacial Salmon, and Giant Darkwater Clams. Inside the Clams you normally Clam Meat or Pearls. The pearls vendor for 50s each, and the clam meat brings a few gold per stack on the ah. The real money makers are the fish. On most servers you can get 1g per fish, or offer them for less in bulk amounts. You can also get Siren's Tear from the Clams which sell for around 10g each. If you let the fish bot run for an hour straight you'll be able to make around 250g per hour. If you run the bot 8 hours a day (Some people are willing to run it more, personally I didn't.) you make around 2000g per day. Five days later you'll have 10,000g.

Noteworthy Tips:
-Sell through trade chat. Often times on the auction house people will undercut you. You're trying to sell very large amounts of fish and it will flood the market if you put too many on the AH and in the end you won't make as much gold. A little leg work goes a long way when it comes to selling.
-The first thing I bought when I made gold was bags. I bought Netherweave bags to start then upgraded to Frostweave bags.
-Always sell your fish in an even amount. When I go to the city to sell I generally broadcast "WTS [Nettlefish]x200[Glacial Salmon]x200[Musselback Sculpin]x200. 600 Fish, 550g". Some people are willing to buy more fish, but some people are only able to afford around 500 at a time. But don't sell all of your Glacial Salmon and leave yourself stuck with 1000 Nettlefish and Musselback Sculpin.

Conclusion:
I don't have much else to say, but I will update the guide if I change my methods or include them in a post below. I probably forgot a few things along the way and I'll edit to include them if I notice. Any tips are appreciated and I hope this can help someone else make gold as well.

Guild Mounts, Worgen "Running Wild" and more!

Horde Guild Mount - Kron'Kar Annihilator

The first pass of the Kron'Kar Annihilator, the Horde guild mount, was published in this build as well. Check out the video below; it requires completing Guild Level 25.

Update: Reins of the Golden King

Reins of the Golden King was updated and the heraldry now works. It costs 1500 gold and can be purchased after your guild completes the Guild Level 25 achievement.

4.0.1 Background Downloader Stage 2

The second part of the 4.0.1 patch is now up on the background downloader bringing the US patch size up to 3.79 GB and the EU patch size up to 4.45 GB.

Running Wild
Instead of getting their own mounts Worgen instead will drop down on all 4's to run.

Running Wild - Drop to all fours to run as fast as a wild animal.

Quote from: Zarhym (Source)
Running Wild is indeed the new racial "mount" for worgen. Functionally the ability works exactly like a mount. This does mean the worgen are not bringing faction mounts to the table which other Alliance race can access. This is also of course very different from the original Plainsrunning implemented for taurens. We have no plans to try and bring that ability back in any form.

Ultimately, we feel Running Wild fits very well with the nature of the worgen race. Rather than getting a physical mount, they get down and sprint on all fours. When you're playing a worgen, it just feels awesome.

Make Fishing Funnier with an iPhone/iPod Touch!

I hope this guide will make fishing a funnier thing to do.

What you will need:

An iPhone or iPod Touch
WoWFishing - the app
Motrix Universal Server
All of this is free!

Setup:
  1. Download the app either directly from iPhone/iPod Touch or via the computer and do a sync. When done, launch it. Don't do anything for now.
  2. Download Motrix Universal Server. Launch Motrix Universal Server. If the port is already used for some reason, change it. Click "Start". If a firewall pops up, just click yes.
  3. When the ports matches, click "Find". When found, an IP address will appear, click it. You have now connected.

How to use:
  1. If you have successfully connected them, click "Start WoW Fishing" in the iPhone app.
  2. It will show an image with the title "How to start fishing". It will guide how to do.

Settings:

Click the little "i" in the top right corner.
Throw Sensitivity - If it's full you only have to swipe the iPhone down VERY gently.
Lift Sensitivity - If it's full you only have to lift the iPhone up VERY gently.
Forced Lift - When you fish, the duration takes 17 seconds. If Forced Lift is activated, it will pull the bobber after 17 seconds. If this is against Blizz' terms, I don't know. Use this with care.
Idle time Sleep - I'm not sure what this is. But it's on as default.

Well, I hope you can use this to make fishing funny again!
P.S. I did not make this app. All credits for making this possible goes to the Neogames team!

Cataclysm Beta: UI Enhancements

We all love to see what blizzard has in store to their loyal fans when it comes to UI changes to make the game look more interactive with each expansion pack! I am

New Talent Pane
One of the biggest changes is of course the new talent pane. With the talent system being revamped to 31-point trees, Blizzard has taken the opportunity to design a new, more intuitive interface to introduce players to each specialization they have available to them.

New Glyph Pane
The glyph system is getting an overhaul in Cataclysm as well, so to go along with that the glyph pane has been updated to reflect the changes. Using a glyph will now "teach" your character that glyph -- permanently making it accessible via the glyph pane as an option to add to your active glyphs. All of the glyphs you've learned, and those still available to your character, will display to the right of your active glyph section in a list that is easy to browse. In the screenshots you'll notice that glyphs you do not currently know will be greyed out.

Spell Activation Overlay Effects

This awesome new feature allows you to enable visual indicators when certain effects are triggered by your character, similar to the extremely popular PowerAuras AddOn. In the screenshot examples below you can see that each effect has a unique icon. Those displayed are for Arcane MissilesRime and Sudden Death.

In addition to this, ability icons on your hotbar will now light up with a glow effect when they become available for use, or when one of the spell overlay effects are active that the ability will benefit from. For example, check out how Howling Blast and Icy Touch look on the action bar while the Freezing Fog buff is active.

Raid Frame Improvements

The default raid frame UI has seen substantial improvements and will be much more viable to use over an AddOn in Cataclysm. As you can see in the screenshots below, it can be customized quite a bit and is visually similar to the popular Grid AddOn.

To go along with this, the UI options for the raid frames have been updated.

Spellbook Update - Mounts & Companions

The spellbook has been updated with new tabs for your mounts and companion pets, so they no longer display on your character pane. The nice thing about this change is that the spellbook now displays not only the icon but also the name of your mounts and companion pets -- making it much easier to browse and select the right one for the situation.

Character Pane - Expertise and Hit Chance Explanations

The character pane has received an additional update for the Expertise and Hit Chance statistics. You'll now see detailed information on the chance for your attacks to be dodged, parried and miss based on the level of the creature. This will greatly assist players in choosing gear upgrades and what gems or reforging to take advantage of.

Character Pane - Spec and Class Color

The character pane has also been updated and will now display the spec you've chosen alongside your level, and it will also be colored in your class color. It will also display on the inspect pane, making it easy to quickly see a person's chosen specialization.

Reforging Pane

Reforging is a new feature in Cataclysm that allows you to reduce a secondary statistic and put those points into another secondary statistic, by visiting a Thaumaturge NPC. This system allows for incredibly customizable items and lets you tailor them to your specific needs.

And as a reminder, I've included a video introduction of the reforging system.

Druid - Eclipse Bar

Druids will find when they choose the Balance specialization that they have a new mechanic bar: Eclipse energy. Using certain spells will generate either Lunar or Solar energy, and once you reach 100 it will proc an eclipse of that type. Lunar will increase Arcane damage, while Solar will increase Nature damage.

Hunter - New Pet Pane

With Cataclysm, Hunters will be able to have multiple "active" pets -- up to 5 at higher levels -- and they can call upon any of them while out questing, doing dungeons, etc. In addition to this, you'll also be able to have up to 20 pets stabled. This called for a new pet pane, and what you see below is the result.

Mage - Portal & Teleport Bars

Mages now have a new feature for their portal and teleport spells. Rather than each spell being displayed in the spellbook, there are now two spells named "Portal" and "Teleport." Upon clicking either of them, a bar pops out that allows you to select which destination you'd like to port to. These spells can also be moved to your action bar, resulting in similar pop-out functionality.

Paladin - Holy Power Bar

With Cataclysm, Paladins are going to have a new resource system. While they're retaining mana as a primary resource, Holy Power will be used exclusively for a handful of abilities that grow in power based on the amount of Holy Power you currently have. To support this new resource system, a new UI element has been added for Paladin players under their unitframe. As you see in the screenshot examples below, as you have more Holy Power, the bar glows more impressively.

Minimap Update - Quest Tracker Arrow

The minimap now has an arrow pointing to your primary tracked quest, assuming you're using the quest tracker feature. It was updated recently and now looks much better.

Thats all for this post stay tuned for more Beta updates!
