My #1 auction house competitor left the game today, so what does he do? :(

Class act. This was the first time we had spoken, we only knew of each other because of how frequently we saw each other's name during reposts.

He sent a whisper prior to this message so saying how much he enjoyed the competition we shared on the auction house.

Not sure why this action saddened me as much as it did, but gold making just became a little less fun for me today :-/

So I found a bug that allows to do insane burst dps, I didn't get it to work inside raids but still can do some fun stuff like this. I hesitate to disclose full details in public because it would then probably get fixed soon.

Enjoy:
Warlock soloing King Varian Wrynn in Stormwind, on december 2011, Cataclysm (4.3) live server. Yes it's real, but used some nicely bugged buff.

Anyone else really tired of this gem-value paradigm?

The way I see it primary stat gems are a function of bad game design (though i'm not sure about primary stat enchants, haven't really given those much thought). I feel like for most specs there is no choice in geming...its a simple matter of stuffing your gear with as many primary stat gems as you can, with very few and / or non interesting exceptions. I'm sure if we could we'd walk around covered in red gems like some freakish blinged out monstrosity that can barely move under its own strength.

One way you normalize the price of gems is by removing primary stats like strength, agi, and int from gems all together...or at the very least in their pure forms. Perhaps cuts like agi/haste or str/mastery leaves players with enough room to make choices. Simply put, you fix prices by making the other cuts / colors more desirable. Proper gear design has a role in this too. For example, items with only red sockets are infinity stupid under the current stat disturbing...items like these are better off having their socket removed and the socket ilvl moved to strength or int some secondary stat.
To me, one of the most interesting specs when it comes to gearing is resto druids with their haste break points. With proper item design you could have something like yellow / red sockets (sans primary stat gem choices) with a meaningful-ish socket bonus where it provides players different ways of reaching the next break point for haste or some other stat.

Blizzard sues Pocket Gnome World of Warcraft bot creators

Blizzard Entertainment does not like bots operating in World of Warcraft, and demonstrated that by taking the company behind WOWGlider to court a few years ago, winning damages, and shutting the bot down. Now a new bot has appeared, and Blizzard is attempting exactly the same thing with another lawsuit.

This new bot is called Pocket Gnome and is offered by Ceiling Fan Software (run by Brian Becker and Statnton Fraser). The number of players that can actually take advantage of Pocket Gnome is limited as it seems to only work on Intel Macs. Even so, due to the automated functionality it offers, Blizzard wants sales of the bot stopped and damages paid.

As you can see from the interface image below, Pocket Gnome allows the player to automate a whole load of repetitive tasks in the MMO. If used effectively, you could leave WoW running all day and return to find your character has leveled up significantly without any direct input from you.

Blizzard is arguing that such functionality is detrimental to the game as a whole, and “frustrating” for legitimate players. They even claim Pocket Gnome is “diverting revenue from Blizzard to defendants” in this case Ceiling Fan Software. The amount made off sales of Pocket Gnome (which includes both an up front fee and monthly charge) is speculated to be between tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Ceiling Fan know that Pocket Gnome is breaking the terms of service for WoW, and they even openly acknowledge it does on the bot’s website. It is followed by a warning that if you get caught you will be banned, but also that bans are avoidable if the bot is used in a smart way.

With WOWGlider losing out to Blizzard’s lawyers, I suspect Pocket Gnome will suffer a similar fate. How long it takes before the bot disappears depends on how much cash Becker and Fraser are willing to spend on their defense, and if they have anything to counter the lawsuit with.

We must point out that not all MMO bots are bad. In 2009 a WoW bot was shown off at the Defcon security conference that had been created to act like a human player. It was not developed further, but the API was made available for anyone interested in using it. I wonder if Pocket Gnome includes any of the tech released for that bot at Defcon?

Bingo and Video Games- Generations Come Together

When I think of video games of today, I think of bingo. If that sounds weird, let me explain. You can play free bingo games online today, which is something you never would have been able to do in the past. This is just one more reminder of how far the digital world has come.

I have played World of Warcraft for quite some time now and while I love MMORPGs and video games in general, there is still something that takes me back to my childhood days when I first developed a love of games. While we had video games back then, I didn’t have them in my own home until I was older but I always had an interest in games in general.

Techsling tells us about the history of Bingo as a game, “The origins of contemporary bingo goes back to 16th century Italy, exactly where the lottery video game Lo Giuoco del Lotto d’Italia was introduced. A toy salesperson of New York was accountable for transforming the identity in the game into Bingo and to the increase of its reputation all through the United States.”

My first memories of Bingo were in school, as young as Kindergarten. We played traditional Bingo with cards and there were also special games of Bingo that used faces, objects or other images to help those of us too young to know our numbers how to find the spaces on the playing card. They were used for entertainment and learning tools.

At this very young impressionable age, I was exposed to Bingo and it increased my love of games, which would later lead to my passion for video games as well. My parents played Bingo and so did my elders and it’s something that generations of families can relate to. So when I think of video games of today, I think of Bingo and my early beginnings of being introduced to this type of entertainment.

What do you think of when you think of Bingo? Does the game bring back any fond memories of your childhood or your past?

Arena Season 11 Begins

Arena season 11 has just begun and new S11 "Cataclysmic" set is finally available for purchase!
Along with new set, we're also getting back PvP epic gems purchasable for conquest points (750 each).

Ruthless set has been upgraded to s11 honor set, so if you're seriously thinking about fighting in arena, you might want to get upgraded ruthless set first.

After tons of requests from players, MMR, Team, and Personal Ratings have been finally reset. No matter how good you were in last season now you need to fight through your way to the top all over again. That means you'll no longer see lazy teams "sitting" on their ratings anymore, and only your skills will decide about your new gear!

Players who were in the top teams from each battlegroup at the end of Season 10 will also be receiving their end-of-season rewards shortly. These include Arena- and Rated Battleground-specific titles and, for players who have earned the rank of gladiator, the Ruthless Gladiator’s Twilight Drake.

Be ready for Fair and bloody battle between Horde and Alliance! (Unless you'll find any nice PvP Exploit )

PiroxBots legally prohibited

As some of you might already know, last week - PiroxBots has been legally prohibited and with the date of January 25, 2012 PvP tool will be no longer available for use.
PiroxBots has been legally prohibited from offering programs for World of Warcraft
and is therefore no longer available due to legal reasons.
Support for existing packages will cease on January 25, 2012.

After that time PiroxBots does not exist anymore!

Thank you for your understanding and your confidence you've shown us in the last years.
As you can see Pirox haven't gave us much info (probably due to legal reasons), but the only thing we can be sure is that PiroxBots has been sued by Blizzard and either lost their trial or just didn't want to fight back.

We cant be sure when exactly PiroXBots has been sued, but some time ago PvP tool switched from lifetime to monthly subscription, that's probably was the time when they already known they might be closed (this is of course pure speculation).

How will PiroxBots closure affect other bots?
Blizzard obviously started their anti-bot campaign, as we know also HonorBuddy got served a while ago, Bossland still wants to fight back and he obviously wont give up so easily, but PiroxBots same as Honorbuddy were both located in Germany and both of them can be somehow reached by U.S. law.

HonorBuddy statement about PiroxBots Closure:

04.12.2011
As of today Pirox announced a termination of his services on 25th January 2012.
By the time that Activision Blizzard had a trip to Germany, to meet at least 3 Bot Devs, one of them was Pirox ( July 2011 ).
Other than us, Pirox was ready to talk with Blizzard about an settlement, and as it seems they finally agreed the conditions.
The settlement was about stopping Pirox to work, not about personal details of users, that means there is no data going to Blizzard.
As of this was confidential, i could not have talked about it, unless it turns into public news.
As our forum probably will be flooded these day, there is a forum post of our Mod Kick, which mostly explains everything about Honorbuddy.

As we know, Pirox was storing World of Warcraft account data from their users and according to Honor Buddy statement, PvP tool users shouldn't have nothing to worry about, but we cant be 100% sure this is true, we can only hope that PiroXBots closure wont cause ban wave to their subscribers.

Why PiroxBots didn't let their customers know abut the legal situation before they announced closure? This question can be answered only by Pirox Himself, Either it was due to legal reasons or just his personal decision the facts remain unchanged - PiroxBots has been closed ant there's nothing we can do about it now. We can only hope it won't charm Pirox subscribers other way then just losing their bots.

Diablo 3 Opening Cinematic

Blizzard just released the full opening cinematic for Diablo 3 during the 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards.
The cinematic was premiered just after Blizzard received the Gamer God -award.

What seems to be causing alarums and excursions among the dedicated D3 fans is that no official release
date for the game was given. Once again, we will have to wait for more news about the release.

Beta invites are going out in an increasing rate.

Spine of Deathwing 10 man non heroic Guide

This guide is for spine of deathwing 10 man non heroic.

Goal
The finish of this fight is to destroy 3 armor plates of deathwing, so everything you read under this, will come 3 times.

Sideeffects whole fight
If a player is bind by a tentacle -> 1 ranged DD must take him out.. dps until the bind breaks (bring 1 backup player)
Tentacles cast a debuff to 1 player -> Healers must heal the Player, until the debuff is gone.

Steps:

1. Kill Tentacels except 1
Tentacles spawn -> Kill every tentacle except 1. Per Tentacle you kill, there spawn a big add (Hideous Amalgamation) and a blob (Corrupted Blood) from each position of a tentacle -> just tank them a short time.

2. Bring Deathwings to coil
If the tanks had the mobs and only one tentacle is up, move your group to one side of the spine and stand in the Fiery Grip. It´s a benefit for your healers and your hp to wait until the message appears that deathwing will make a coil before you stand in fiery grip.

If someone get´s bind by a tentacle just in the moment of the coil, let him.. just a little bit heal is enough. The bind of a tentacle will also prevent you from get kick from the back of deahtwing.

Right after the Coil move your group back to the middle of the spine. Now the big adds are gone.. only the blubs are left, but this is ok, you need them later.

3. Killing the last tentacle

So, one tank gets the blobbs and takes position next to the armor plate you want to destroy. The other tank stands a little bit offside the group and tanks the last big add which will spawn afte you kill the last tentacle.

The blobb tank now catches 9 blobbs. In this time, the dd´s will bring the big add to 20% hp. If it reaches the 20% the blob tank will taunt the big add and you bomb the shit out of the blobbs and the add.

Remark: As soon as a blobb dies, it will leave Absorbed Blood on the ground. The big add will only get a debuff when you bring him near to the absorbed blood. Only then the add will become a dmg increase!!

4. Destory the Armor Plate

Hast the big add 9 stacks of absorbed blood it will cast nuclear blast. during nuclear blast the add won´t move anymore. Be sure that this position is near an armor plate . The tank should now move back to group and your healer should use group heal cd´s. the dmg during nuclear blast is heavy.

If nuclear blast is finished, the armor plate get´s off and you have a short time to kill the cord. Safe your dmg cd´s for this time. After you killed the cord the armor plate fly´s away.

After that.. the fight start´s over. (Kill all tentacles except 1, bring deathwing to coil, kill last tentacle, catch blubs, kill blubbs and so on)

Important is that especially during the third armory plate, you will have a lot of blobbs spawn. don´t let them get to much, otherwise daethwing will make a coil and you wipe. Just kill the blobbs you don´t need, it´s ok, once again, nothing will happen until you kite the big add to the absorbed blood.

Unattackable - In Stormwind / Orgrimmar

Ever wanted to be unattackable? This can be reality, if you use this "small" bug. First of all: It's based on one of the old exploits of RaoV, so if you like it, please think of it to rep them.

Now here are the steps you have to do:

  • Wait for the first kill of Deathwing on the server
  • After this happend, there will be a giant stone with Chromie in Stormwind / Orgrimmar.
  • Go there and speak with Chromie.
  • Press a reload-macro very fast after you've clicked on the option to view the video

Tada, now you're stuck. You cannot move. You can cast your normal abilitys (Blink works, so you can move a bit as a mage.)

But you can jump on a chopper or something like this.

Now you can not be attacked, and you can not attack anyone. BUT your pet can, if you have.

Okay, have fun with it. Old exploit, new (and more interesting) place to use! If you like it, please give the credits to Shorty of RaoV, even if I don't like RaoV very much since they're goldsellers, I pay tribute to this, what they've done in the past.

World of Warcraft Patch 4.3 Impressions

It's rather fitting that the story arc of the new raid and two of the three new five-man dungeons in World of Warcraft's Patch 4.3 focus so heavily on Northrend. While the supporting characters you encounter consist of a warchief turned hippie and a dragon with anger management issues instead of a madman with a cool sword, the ease with which you can clear the content and snatch up rewards leaves a distinct aftertaste of Wrath of the Lich King. In fact, if anything, it's easier. Already the mad dragon Deathwing -- the so-called Destroyer, the feared Worldbreaker -- lies dead on many servers (at least in his normal version). Even casually organized groups are plowing through endgame raid content, thanks to the new Looking for Raid tool. It's all good content, to be sure. But is it good enough to serve as an alternative to the attraction of Star Wars: The Old Republic in a couple of weeks?

So that's where the snows of yesteryear went.

Patch 4.3 represents a valiant effort on Blizzard's part. Even if the three new five-man dungeons aren't particularly challenging -- gone, for instance, are the coordination-based encounters such as Corla in Blackrock Caverns -- they're drenched in the kind of exciting lore that many of the game's players have always found fascinating. The first one, End Times, presents an alternate future in which Deathwing has wiped out all life on Azeroth, and his rotting corpse lies atop the ruins of Wyrmrest Temple. Players have to fight two random "echoes" of pivotal figures from the game's lore (such as Sylvanas Windrunner or Tyrande Whisperwind), each with their own mini-zone, before a fun but gimmicky faceoff with Murozond, a corrupted version of one of the normally buddy-buddy dragons from the game's past.

The next instance, The Well of Eternity, takes players 10,000 years into the past, where they get to rub shoulders with Illidan Stormrage and Queen Azshara in a time before much of the world went off the deep end, so to speak. It's a beautiful instance, and the chance to see the first invasion of The Burning Legion and the old Highborne kingdom in its glory should please even the most jaded Warcraft veterans. And finally, in the Hour of Twilight, players join Thrall in a current-day march on Wyrmrest Temple that serves as a prelude to the new endgame raid, Dragon Soul. Much like Wrath of the Lich King's dungeons, WoW's new offerings are fast-paced experiences that take around 30 minutes to complete, which marks a far cry from the challenging, lengthy dungeons that defined Cataclysm's release. And, aside from some rather meager gear requirements, they're refreshingly accessible.

In Azeroth, fashion doesn't change much in 10,000 years.

The Looking For Raid tool, however, pushes accessibility to its limits. Designed to let a random group of 25 players experience the same content that only better-organized groups normally get to see (and at the same time), the Looking For Raid tool dumps its players into easier versions of the current raids -- including Dragon Soul. Easy is the operative word here. If you've ever jumped into a random group that was running an outdated raid from a previous expansion, either for loot or mere achievement points, then you already have some idea of what to expect in the raids you'll find yourself in. Most bosses fall over with only a minimum nod to strategy (even if some players aren't familiar with the fight), and it's possible to survive some of the encounters just by making sure you stay out of the gunk that the bosses throw out every now and then.

Keep in mind that this is fresh, two-day-old end-game content we're talking about, not out-leveled raids from two expansions ago. This is happening with players who have no connection to one another. In my own experience, I jumped into the Raid Finder five different times and killed seven bosses across two characters, and only once did I see an entire group fall before a boss. It's hard to imagine this being fun for long. While guilds seeking a challenge and better gear can still run the content on normal and heroic versions, I wonder if it holds the same attraction anymore in light of the Raid Finder versions. But even on the normal modes, it's clear that the old days of guilds battling against each other for first kills over weeks or months are almost at an end. Already hundreds of guilds have downed the normal version of Deathwing, who never quite reached the awesomeness level of Arthas despite shattering a good chunk of the world. And now, with much of Azeroth using him as a punching bag, he seems like little more than Blizzard's red-scaled stepchild.

Back in the day, seeing a dead dragon on display was a pretty big deal.

Yet Patch 4.3 isn't just about raid and dungeon content. It also introduces some the game's first real cosmetic gear options in the form of the Transmogrification service. Essentially, if you already own a certain piece of older gear with an awesome model, you can transmogrify your existing gear to look like the older item for a small fee. Not only does this allow you to ditch a current tier's appearance if you dislike it, but it has some unexpected gameplay benefits as well. Call me shallow, but I've found a new love for playing my warrior alt simply because I can outfit him in the badass Viking-styled armor from Wrath of the Lich King instead of the dorky quest gear I've amassed on the way to 85. Some players have expressed their distaste that they can't transmogrify the look of a plate item so it looks like a cloth item, but I, for one, don't really care to see a warrior tanking the Worldbreaker in a wedding dress. Couple Transmogrification with a "Void Storage" option -- it acts as a safe deposit box of sorts for rarely used gear -- and it's clear Patch 4.3 offers some pleasing additions that probably should have made their appearance years ago.

But for all the promise that the content brings, however, I can't help but feel that the novelty of this feature-packed content update might wear off even before Star Wars: The Old Republic makes its appearance in less than two weeks. While the instances are all fun in a way that other Cataclysm instances never quite managed, they're all just a little too easy. Even now, not even a week into the patch, I find myself a little bored by the thought of jumping into the LFR tool and attempting some more raids outside of my guild. In the end, 4.3 might bring back some of the legions of players who left in the wake of Cataclysm. It's hard to imagine breezy content like this being able to weather the months of waiting between now and the release of Mists of Pandaria. Unless they crank up the difficulty a notch or two, the very players they win back might head to other potentially satisfying worlds without regret, and sooner than expected.

As to where? I hear Korriban is lovely this time of year.
