Blizzard has deployed a new round of hotfixes for World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.1, addressing several high-impact issues that surfaced after the Midnight pre-expansion update went live.

The fixes target unintended PvP flagging, missing World Quest gold rewards, and housing-related problems, stabilizing the game ahead of Midnight’s March 2 launch.

PvP Flagging Bug Fixed

One of the most disruptive issues involved players being incorrectly flagged for PvP when casting certain abilities.

Spells such as:

  • Mage’s Ice Lance

  • Rogue’s Secret Technique

were unintentionally triggering PvP flags, even in situations where players had not opted into PvP combat.

This issue has now been corrected, restoring normal flag behavior.

World Quest Gold Rewards Restored

Another major problem involved missing gold rewards from World Quests.

After Patch 12.0.1 went live, some players reported completing gold-rewarding World Quests without receiving their payout. Blizzard has now fixed the issue, ensuring that gold rewards are properly granted again.

For players actively farming gold before Midnight, this correction is significant.

Housing Fix: Harvesting Hatchet Returns

The hotfixes also address a housing-related issue.

The Harvesting Hatchet, used for gathering lumber in player housing systems, is now once again available for purchase from lumberjack vendors. It had previously disappeared from vendor inventories following the patch.

With housing playing a larger role heading into Midnight, system stability here is increasingly important.

Why These Hotfixes Matter

Pre-expansion patches often introduce unintended side effects as systems shift under the hood. These hotfixes demonstrate Blizzard’s focus on:

  • Stabilizing gameplay before launch

  • Preventing PvP-related frustration

  • Ensuring economic systems function properly

  • Maintaining housing system consistency

With Midnight approaching, maintaining a smooth gameplay environment is critical.

More Tuning Likely Ahead

Given the scale of Patch 12.0.1, additional hotfixes and balance passes are expected in the coming days. Blizzard continues to monitor player feedback as the expansion launch draws closer.

Players experiencing lingering issues should keep an eye on official patch note updates.
