Blizzard is giving World of Warcraft players another reason to log in this spring. A new promotion tied to World of Warcraft: Midnight allows players to unlock a free flying mount for Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms—and yes, it’s exactly the kind of limited-time reward that tends to get attention fast.

The mount in question is the Voidfeather Dragonhawk, and players can earn it by completing the Midnight intro experience during the event window.

How to Get the Voidfeather Dragonhawk

The promotion runs from March 17 through May 15, 2026, giving players roughly two months to complete the requirements.

To unlock the mount, players must:

  • Reach level 80 in Midnight

  • Start the campaign questline beginning with A Voice from the Light

  • Progress through the introduction storyline

  • Earn the Echoes of Midnight achievement

Once completed, the reward becomes available in Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary Edition rather than Retail WoW.

Where to Claim Your Mount

After earning the achievement, players can log into Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms and pick up the quest Unexpected Delivery.

This quest can be obtained from:

  • Innkeepers in major cities

  • Landro Longshot in Booty Bay

Completing the short quest grants an Unexpected Gift, which contains the Reins of the Voidfeather Dragonhawk.

Important Requirements to Know

There are a few limitations players should be aware of:

  • The mount is only usable in Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary realms

  • Characters must have Expert Riding or higher

  • The mount automatically scales to the highest riding skill known

So while the mount is technically free, you’ll still need proper flying training if you want to actually use it.

Why Blizzard Is Doing This

This promotion is another example of Blizzard connecting different versions of WoW to keep players engaged across ecosystems. By tying a Retail expansion reward to Classic servers, Blizzard encourages players to explore multiple versions of the game rather than staying in just one.

It’s also a classic WoW engagement strategy:
limited-time reward + simple requirement + collector appeal.

That formula rarely fails.

A Classic Case of WoW FOMO

Mount collectors already know how this usually goes. Even players who weren’t planning to jump into Midnight right away may now feel compelled to complete the intro just to avoid missing a unique mount.

Because in WoW, nothing motivates players quite like the words “limited time.”

A Simple but Effective Reward Campaign

This isn’t a massive gameplay system or expansion reveal. It’s something much simpler: play the new content, get a collectible reward.

And honestly, that’s exactly why it works.

Blizzard isn’t just promoting Midnight here—they’re creating a reason to log in now instead of later. And if history repeats itself, plenty of players will do exactly that.
