The Coiled Isle is already full of things trying to poison, bite or otherwise inconvenience you.

Fortunately, it is also hiding a free flying snake.

World of Warcraft players who discover all 22 hidden treasures across the Coiled Isle will complete the Treasures of the Coiled Isle achievement and receive the Auriferous Venomfang mount.

And there is another reason to do the treasure hunt even if your mount collection has already become a small zoological emergency.

Each treasure also gives 50 reputation with Zul'jarra's Forces.

Find all 22 and you are looking at 1,100 reputation alongside the mount.

Auriferous Venomfang Comes From One Achievement

The requirement is refreshingly straightforward.

The Treasures of the Coiled Isle achievement asks you to locate 22 specific treasures spread around the zone.

Complete the entire list and the achievement awards Auriferous Venomfang.

The mount is one of Patch 12.1's new flying serpent-style mounts, with bright golden scales that make the word "stealth" somewhat optimistic.

There is no raid drop percentage involved.

No weekly lockout.

No 1% rare that dies while you are still flying toward it.

You just need to go treasure hunting.

Not Every Treasure Is Just Sitting on the Ground

There is one small catch.

Some of these treasures are genuine treasure chests that you can simply fly toward and loot.

Others involve small environmental puzzles, keys, NPC interactions or objects hidden around the surrounding area.

So arriving at the waypoint does not always mean the treasure will be sitting there politely with a large arrow above it.

For example, some treasure chains require interacting with nearby creatures or finding components before the final chest becomes available.

If one appears to be missing, check the immediate area before assuming the treasure is bugged.

The Coiled Isle occasionally expects archaeology.

Mostly the kind where something tries to kill the archaeologist.

The Treasures Are Worth 1,100 Zul'jarra's Forces Reputation

The mount may be the obvious headline reward, but the reputation is arguably just as useful for characters still progressing through Patch 12.1.

Every treasure grants 50 reputation with Zul'jarra's Forces.

With 22 treasures available, completing the achievement therefore provides:

  • 22 hidden treasures
  • 50 reputation per treasure
  • 1,100 Zul'jarra's Forces reputation total
  • Auriferous Venomfang mount

That makes the treasure route a particularly good activity for alts.

We have already looked at ways alts can efficiently farm Corrosive Souls in Season 2, and the treasure achievement fits the same basic philosophy.

You are progressing the character while simultaneously clearing a permanent account collectible.

Efficiency.

The true endgame.

This Is Also a Good Excuse to Finish Exploring the Coiled Isle

Patch 12.1 has packed a remarkable amount of content into the Coiled Isle.

Between Curse Surges, Temple Strikes, Incursions, reputation, rares and treasure hunting, it is easy to spend most of your time moving directly from one map marker to another.

The treasure achievement forces you into corners of the island you may otherwise never visit.

If you have not spent much time in the zone yet, remember that the Coiled Isle portal provides a much faster route from Silvermoon once you have access to it.

Blizzard also fixed one of the more annoying account problems where alts could lose access to the Coiled Isle portal, making the treasure hunt considerably less irritating on secondary characters.

You Do Not Need to Find Them All at Once

The achievement tracks each treasure individually.

That means there is no reason to force yourself through all 22 in one sitting.

Open your achievement panel and search for Treasures of the Coiled Isle.

The criteria list will show which treasures you have already collected.

That is particularly useful if you explored naturally before starting the achievement and already picked up six mysterious objects without remembering what any of them were called.

World of Warcraft has been training us for this exact situation since 2004.

A Guaranteed Mount Is Better Than Another 1% Drop

There are plenty of spectacular mounts in World of Warcraft that require weeks, months or occasionally several geological eras of farming.

Auriferous Venomfang is refreshingly different.

The requirements are fixed.

The locations are known.

There are exactly 22 things to find.

And when the achievement is complete, the mount is yours.

No dice roll.

No reset.

No watching somebody else get it on their first attempt while explaining that they "weren't even farming it."

Just explore the Coiled Isle, collect the treasures and take home a golden flying snake.

Plus 1,100 reputation.

For once, the treasure really is the friends we looted along the way.
