If you have reached Rank 3 on the Season 2 Delve Renown track, a special Shrine of Abundance can appear inside Bountiful Delves.
Find it, interact with it and the Loa of Abundance known as Dundun appears.
The first time you find him, he makes your Delve Abundantly Bountiful.
Which means that when you finish the Delve, you get two Bountiful Delve chests instead of one.
There is, naturally, a catch.
You need another Restored Coffer Key to open the second chest.
Abundance has discovered transaction costs.
You Unlock Dundun at Delve Renown Rank 3
The Shrine of Abundance becomes available once you reach Rank 3: Treasure Hunter on the Season 2 Delve Renown track.
At that point, Shrines of Abundance can begin appearing inside Bountiful Delves.
The shrine is not guaranteed to appear in every run.
When it does, however, it is fairly difficult to mistake for normal Midnight vegetation.
The disguise can take the form of a deliberately fake-looking tree, palm or similar suspicious piece of scenery.
Think less ancient enchanted forest.
Think more cardboard foliage from the community theatre storage room.
Interact with the suspicious object and Dundun reveals himself.
Your First Dundun Gives You Two Bountiful Chests
The first Dundun encounter is the important one.
According to the current Shrine of Abundance discovery, Dundun upgrades that run into an Abundantly Bountiful Delve.
Complete it and you will find two Bountiful Delve chests at the end instead of the usual one.
That second chest can contain the same kinds of rewards you normally expect from your Bountiful chest, including:
- Gear
- Mistcrests
- Untainted Mana-Crystals where applicable
- Decor rewards
- Other normal Bountiful Delve loot
In practical terms, you are getting two Bountiful reward rolls from one completed Delve.
That can be very useful when you are trying to gear a character without running another full Delve.
The Second Chest Costs Another Restored Coffer Key
This part matters.
Dundun does not simply hand you another unlocked Bountiful chest for free.
The additional chest requires a second Restored Coffer Key.
So a normal Bountiful Delve costs one key if you want the primary chest.
An Abundantly Bountiful run can consume two keys if you open both.
That means the Shrine does not literally double the number of weekly Bountiful rewards you can obtain from a fixed key supply.
What it does save is time.
You can spend two keys after completing one Delve instead of completing two separate Bountiful Delves.
For players with limited playtime, that may be considerably more valuable than it sounds.
Do Not Spend Your Keys Without Thinking
There is therefore a small decision to make when Dundun appears.
If you are sitting on plenty of Restored Coffer Keys and primarily want gear quickly, opening the second chest is an obvious temptation.
If you are running low on keys, you may prefer to save them for separate Bountiful Delves later in the week.
This matters because Bountiful Delves remain part of a much larger Season 2 progression system.
Players are already using Delves for gear, crests, Great Vault progress and systems like the Season 2 Nightmare Hunt rewards.
Meanwhile, Prey hunts provide another route through Season 2 outdoor progression while still contributing toward relevant weekly goals.
Two chests are nice.
Two empty key slots on Sunday evening are less nice.
Dundun Still Gives Rewards After the First Double Chest
The Shrine of Abundance does not become useless after you receive the first Abundantly Bountiful reward.
Future Dundun encounters offer a different bonus.
Instead of another double Bountiful chest, Dundun can let you choose between additional rewards such as:
- Undercoins
- Voidlight Marl
- Companion experience
So it is still worth looking for him whenever the shrine appears.
The enormous first-time jackpot simply becomes a smaller recurring bonus afterward.
The fake tree has a loyalty program.
You Can Use a Macro to Find Dundun
If you know a Shrine should be somewhere inside the Delve but cannot spot Dundun's magnificently poor camouflage, there is a very simple trick.
You can target him.
Use:
/tar Dundun
If Dundun is within targeting range, the command will select him even if the scenery is doing an unexpectedly convincing job.
You can also make the target easier to locate with a marker:
/cleartarget /tar Dundun /tm 8
Or use the game's ping system after targeting him.
It turns an activity called "find the suspicious fake tree" into the slightly more traditional World of Warcraft activity called "use a macro to defeat scenery."
Rank 3 Is Suddenly More Valuable Than It Looks
Treasure Hunter may initially look like a fairly modest Renown reward.
But the Shrine of Abundance makes Rank 3 surprisingly useful.
Your first Dundun encounter can effectively condense two Bountiful chest openings into one Delve.
Future encounters continue providing useful materials or companion progression.
And unlike some Season 2 rewards, there is no difficult boss strategy involved.
You simply need to notice that one of the trees looks like it was purchased from a discount furniture store.
If You See the Fake Tree, Click It
The practical rule for Season 2 Bountiful Delves is therefore very simple.
Once you have reached Delve Renown Rank 3, pay attention to the scenery.
If something looks suspiciously fake, investigate it.
If Dundun appears for the first time, finish the Delve and you will get two Bountiful chests.
Just remember that opening both requires two Restored Coffer Keys.
So no, Blizzard has not invented infinite loot.
They have merely hidden a second treasure chest behind a fake tree.
Which, for World of Warcraft, feels entirely reasonable.
