If your World of Warcraft Mythic+ group is running Murder Row without using its hidden contraband vendors, you may be leaving a rather substantial amount of damage on the floor.
Players have discovered that a Faceted Crystalline Fel hidden near the beginning of the dungeon can be traded for several powerful temporary items.
One of them is particularly ridiculous.
Concealed Pistol makes every enemy hit take 20% increased damage for 16 seconds.
It also deals Physical damage in a line and applies a Bleed every two seconds during that window.
Twenty percent increased damage to an entire pull is already interesting.
Twenty percent during a boss vulnerability phase is where things start becoming deeply irresponsible.
Find the Faceted Crystalline Fel Before the First Boss
The setup begins early in Murder Row.
Before reaching the first boss, players need to interrogate four Row Snitches to progress through the dungeon. Inside the building containing the first snitch on the right, you can find a glowing Faceted Crystalline Fel.
The crystal applies the Fel Contraband effect, and Murder Row's vendors are willing to trade special Extra Action items for it.
The crystal is easy enough to overlook if your group is concentrating entirely on the snitches, trash pulls and timer.
Which is understandable.
Murder Row already contains enough things asking for your attention.
We saw that before launch when Blizzard repeatedly adjusted Murder Row's caster density and Cantina event during Season 2 testing.
Now live players have found another reason to inspect the scenery rather than sprint through it.
Sleyin Sells the Concealed Pistol
Once you have the crystal, look for Sleyin off to the right shortly before the first boss.
Sleyin trades the Faceted Crystalline Fel for Concealed Pistol.
The pistol fires a shot through enemies in a straight line, damaging everything it passes through and applying a 16-second Bleed.
While that Bleed is active, affected enemies take 20% increased damage.
The straight-line part matters.
If you are using the pistol on a large trash pack, target something positioned near the center so the shot travels through as many enemies as possible.
One target in the wrong corner wastes most of the fun.
Kystia Manaheart Is an Obvious Place to Use It
The most attractive boss use appears to be Kystia Manaheart.
During the encounter, Kystia can become Destabilized, causing her to take 115% increased damage for 20 seconds.
Groups are already saving major offensive cooldowns for that window.
Adding Concealed Pistol's 20% increased-damage debuff on top gives the party another powerful multiplier during the exact part of the fight where everyone is already trying to delete the boss.
A clean burst can potentially help groups finish Kystia during a single Destabilized phase instead of having to deal with Nibbles and repeat the setup.
In Mythic+, avoiding an entire additional mechanic cycle is often worth considerably more than squeezing another few percent out of an ordinary trash pull.
Especially in a Season 2 pool where every Mythic+ enemy received a 4% global health increase before launch.
If Blizzard made the health bars larger, we are under no obligation to fight fair.
The Other Vendors Have Useful Items Too
Concealed Pistol is not the only reward available for Faceted Crystalline Fel.
Other Murder Row vendors offer:
- Heartstop Blade: reduces an eligible target's maximum health by 30% and stuns it for 6 seconds, with three charges.
- Felwyrm Egg: summons a fel-infused mana wyrm and increases your Haste by 15% for 30 seconds.
- Suntouched Special Reserve: increases damage and healing by 2% for 30 seconds and can stack, although drinking too much has consequences.
- Concealed Pistol: applies the 16-second Bleed and 20% increased-damage debuff.
You cannot simply buy endless copies and turn Murder Row into an ammunition warehouse.
Each vendor item can only be purchased once from the crystal interaction, so the group needs to think about where the value is highest.
For coordinated groups, the pistol is difficult to ignore.
This Is Exactly the Kind of Season 2 Dungeon Trick Worth Learning
Mythic+ optimization is not only about item level and class balance.
Dungeon-specific tricks can save enormous amounts of time once groups understand them.
That becomes increasingly important as keys climb, especially with Season 2's new Resilient Keystone system encouraging players to establish higher protected key levels.
At lower difficulties, skipping a special dungeon item may barely matter.
At higher difficulties, turning a dangerous boss phase into a 20% larger damage window absolutely can.
Do Not Walk Past the Crystal
The route is simple:
- Find the Faceted Crystalline Fel near the first Row Snitch on the right.
- Carry it to Sleyin before the first boss.
- Trade it for Concealed Pistol.
- Line up the shot so it hits the enemies you actually care about.
- Enjoy 20% increased damage for 16 seconds against everything bleeding from the shot.
You can use it on a dangerous trash pull.
You can save it for a boss.
Or you can combine it with Kystia's Destabilized window and attempt to make one entire phase of the encounter somebody else's problem.
Murder Row is already full of criminals.
Apparently one of them sells a 20% damage increase.
For once, crime really does pay.
