Patch 12.1 has apparently developed a more ambitious bug than simply breaking one dungeon. Blizzard has acknowledged an issue affecting multiple World of Warcraft dungeons and scenarios, causing objectives to stop advancing and leaving players trapped inside content they can no longer complete. The problem has already been reported in The Blinding Vale, Temple Strikes inside the Vaults of Atal'Utek and several other activities. Blizzard says fixing it is now a top priority.

The Blinding Vale Can Simply Stop After the Second Boss

One of the clearest examples comes from The Blinding Vale. Players running the dungeon through Heroic matchmaking report reaching the second boss normally, defeating it, and then discovering that the Pedal Wings required to continue never appear. At that point, the dungeon is effectively finished. Not because you completed it. Because the architecture has decided you live there now. The timing is particularly awkward because The Blinding Vale is already part of the new Season 2 dungeon pool, and players are currently using Mythic 0 to prepare for next week's Mythic+ launch. Learning the dungeon before the timer arrives is useful. Learning that the dungeon occasionally stops existing halfway through is slightly less useful.

Temple Strikes Are Getting Stuck Too

The Vaults of Atal'Utek are suffering from similar problems. Players report Temple Strikes becoming stuck at steps such as “Prepare the Attack” or “Access the Cursed Depths”, sometimes with timers sitting permanently at 00:00. That can become more than an inconvenience because Temple Strikes are tied into Patch 12.1 progression and campaign activity on the Coiled Isle. Some players have managed to escape broken phases by joining groups on different shards, but that is hardly an ideal official strategy. “Find another version of reality where the quest works” generally belongs further down the troubleshooting guide.

The Darkway and Older Content May Be Affected

Reports suggest the same underlying problem may reach beyond the obvious Patch 12.1 activities. Players in The Darkway Delve have encountered locked boss-room doors after completing the required objectives, preventing them from reaching Infiltrator Gulkat. Other reports include older dungeons and scenarios failing to open doors or advance objectives correctly. That broader pattern is why Blizzard isn't treating these as unrelated encounter bugs. Community Manager Kaivax explicitly said the failures are the result of a bug affecting “many dungeons and scenarios,” with developers working on the issue as a priority.

This Is More Serious Than Yesterday’s Lair Bug

Patch 12.1 already had one amusing launch problem when completed Lairs refused to stop matchmaking new players. Blizzard fixed that quickly. This one matters more. A broken Lair queue was silly. A bug capable of soft-locking campaign scenarios, Delves and dungeons can directly stop players from progressing through content. The reassuring part is that Blizzard has identified the common cause and publicly elevated the fix to top-priority status. For now, though, if a door refuses to open or an objective timer reaches zero and decides to remain there for eternity, it may not be you. Patch 12.1 has apparently discovered the ultimate dungeon mechanic: The boss is the script. Source: Blizzard Entertainment
