Blizzard has announced a new Twitch Drop for the launch of The Curse of Ula’tek.
Players can earn the Ensemble: Sorcerer’s Grassy Garb by watching four hours of eligible World of Warcraft streams between August 11 and September 8.
The reward is free.
It requires no Mythic+ rating, raid achievement or suspiciously expensive vendor currency.
You merely need four hours, a linked Twitch account and the ability to remember that Twitch Drops do not claim themselves.
The Sorcerer’s Grassy Garb Starts August 11
The Twitch Drop campaign begins on August 11 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.
It ends on September 8 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.
That gives players almost four weeks to complete the requirement.
European players do not need to stay awake for the exact launch moment.
The campaign lasts long enough that missing the first evening is unlikely to become a historical tragedy.
Any eligible World of Warcraft stream in the Twitch category can contribute progress during the event window.
You Need to Watch Four Hours
The requirement is simple:
- Link your Twitch and Battle.net accounts.
- Watch four hours of eligible World of Warcraft content.
- Claim the reward through Twitch.
- Log into the Battle.net region where you want the reward delivered.
The four hours do not need to come from the same streamer.
You can watch one channel for thirty minutes, move to another and continue accumulating progress.
Opening six streams simultaneously does not complete the requirement six times faster.
Twitch has considered this strategy and declined to participate.
What Is Sorcerer’s Grassy Garb?
Ensemble: Sorcerer’s Grassy Garb is a cosmetic transmog set built around a green nature-themed sorcerer appearance.
The ensemble combines a large pointed hat with a matching cloak, giving it a deliberately whimsical fantasy look rather than the heavily armoured style dominating much of Midnight.
It is the sort of transmog that works especially well on Druids, Mages and characters attempting to look like they have recently graduated from a magical gardening college.
Because the reward is an ensemble, earning the Drop unlocks the appearance rather than requiring players to repeat the Twitch campaign across multiple characters.
Link Battle.net Before You Start Watching
Players need to connect their Battle.net and Twitch accounts before receiving the reward.
Blizzard recommends checking the connection even if the accounts were linked previously.
Password changes or alterations to either account can require the connection to be renewed.
There is also an important restriction.
After reconnecting a Twitch account, Battle.net applies a seven-day cooldown before another Twitch account can be linked.
Do not casually disconnect the correct account while experimenting with settings.
That particular button has consequences.
You Still Need to Claim the Drop
Completing four hours of watch time does not automatically place the transmog into WoW.
The reward must be claimed through Twitch.
Players can do this from the Twitch Drops Inventory or through the claim prompt shown on an eligible stream.
After claiming, Blizzard says delivery can take up to 24 hours.
If the appearance does not arrive instantly, there is therefore no immediate need to restart Battle.net seventeen times while staring suspiciously at the Collections interface.
Be Careful Which Battle.net Region You Open First
Blizzard has included an unusual but important delivery note.
After claiming the Twitch Drop, the first Battle.net region you log into will be the region where the reward is delivered.
Players who maintain characters in multiple regions should therefore make sure they open the correct one first.
For most European players, this is straightforward.
For people who somehow maintain active characters on both sides of the Atlantic, it is another small piece of administration to perform before obtaining a wizard hat.
PC, Mac and Mobile Twitch Apps Work
Watch progress can be earned and claimed through a PC or Mac browser.
The Twitch apps on Android and iOS also support Drops.
Console Twitch apps, smart TV apps and other television versions do not support Twitch Drops.
Leaving a WoW stream running on the television may therefore provide entertainment.
It may not provide the hat.
Check the Twitch Drops Inventory if you are unsure whether progress is actually being recorded.
The Drop Is Available in Europe and North America
Unlike yesterday’s enormous WoW China anniversary promotion, this reward is broadly available.
Blizzard lists North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Japan, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand among the participating regions.
European players can therefore earn Sorcerer’s Grassy Garb normally through their existing Battle.net accounts.
It Is Not a Classic Reward
The Twitch Drop is intended for modern World of Warcraft.
It is not available in WoW Classic games.
Players primarily spending August in Burning Crusade Classic or another Classic version can still earn the reward by watching eligible streams, but the appearance belongs to Retail WoW rather than the Classic wardrobe.
You Have Plenty of Time—Which Is Usually the Problem
The campaign lasts until September 8.
That generous window means there is no need to rush.
It also means many players will think, “I’ll do that later,” until September 7 arrives and Twitch becomes an emergency background application.
Four hours is a small requirement.
The safest option is to complete it during Patch 12.1 launch coverage or the opening week of Season 2.
There will certainly be enough WoW streams available.
Between new class tuning, the Coiled Isle, Mythic+ testing and the Venomous Abyss raid, Twitch is unlikely to suffer from a shortage of people explaining why another specialization urgently needs nerfs.
A Simple Twitch Drop Checklist
- Check that Battle.net and Twitch are connected.
- Start watching after August 11 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.
- Use an eligible stream in the World of Warcraft Twitch category.
- Accumulate four total hours before September 8.
- Claim Sorcerer’s Grassy Garb in the Twitch Drops Inventory.
- Log into the Battle.net region where you want the reward.
- Allow up to 24 hours for delivery.
Patch 12.1 Comes With a Free Hat
Sorcerer’s Grassy Garb is not the most important reward arriving with Patch 12.1.
It will not improve item level.
It will not help anyone defeat Ula’tek.
It provides no Mythic+ score whatsoever.
It is simply a free transmog for watching four hours of World of Warcraft streams between August 11 and September 8.
That makes it one of the easiest Patch 12.1 rewards to collect.
Link the accounts.
Put on a stream.
Claim the Drop.
Then return to the serious business of deciding whether a giant green wizard hat works with your current boots.
