World of Warcraft Season 2 players looking for every possible gear upgrade have another pile of Mistcrests hiding outside the normal seasonal cap.

And this one is worth remembering.

Completing a Tier 11 Delve for the first time this season can reward a Cracked Keystone, which starts a short quest asking you to complete any Season 2 Mythic+ dungeon at +2 or higher.

Finish that quest and you receive 20 Hero Mistcrests and 30 Myth Mistcrests.

All 50 are awarded outside the normal seasonal Mistcrest cap.

No weekly allowance consumed.

No waiting for next reset.

Just one difficult Delve, one very modest Mythic+ key and fifty extra upgrade tokens.

Season 2 occasionally hides generosity in suspicious places.

Your First Tier 11 Delve Gives the Cracked Keystone

The route starts by completing a Tier 11 Delve.

On your first eligible completion this season, the end-of-Delve chest can contain the Cracked Keystone.

Using the item starts a quest of the same name.

The objective is considerably easier than the activity required to obtain it. The Cracked Keystone quest simply asks you to complete a seasonal Mythic Keystone dungeon at +2 or higher.

That means you do not need to clear a +10 or prove anything particularly heroic inside Mythic+.

If you can finish Tier 11 Delves, a +2 should probably not be the evening's biggest obstacle.

The Reward Is 20 Hero and 30 Myth Mistcrests

Turning in the quest rewards:

  • 20 Hero Mistcrests
  • 30 Myth Mistcrests

The important word is uncapped.

Those rewards do not consume room under your seasonal Mistcrest cap, meaning you can collect them even after earning your normally available crests elsewhere.

That makes the Myth Mistcrests particularly valuable during the opening weeks of Season 2, when the weekly cap naturally limits how quickly high-end players can upgrade Myth-track equipment.

We previously broke down how Mistcrests fit into Season 2's new item-level and upgrade structure, where Hero and Myth crests quickly become the currencies players care about most.

Fifty extra crests therefore represent real progression rather than another currency destined to live permanently in the miscellaneous tab.

Azta'rec Has Even More Uncapped Crests

The Cracked Keystone is not the only place Season 2 allows players to exceed the normal crest limit.

Azta'rec also provides one-time uncapped rewards through the Season 2 Delve Nemesis system.

Defeating him on Tier ? awards 30 uncapped Hero Mistcrests, while Tier ?? can provide another 30 Hero and 30 Myth Mistcrests. Players who skip the lower difficulty and defeat Tier ?? first can receive both sets of eligible one-time rewards.

We covered that route separately when looking at how Azta'rec lets players earn Hero and Myth Mistcrests beyond the normal weekly cap.

Combined with Cracked Keystone, Delves are quietly carrying a substantial amount of opening-season upgrade currency.

Apparently the real treasure inside a Delve was fiscal policy.

This Is a One-Time Bonus, Not a Weekly Farm

There is one important limitation.

Cracked Keystone is a one-time quest.

You do not receive another 50 uncapped Mistcrests every time you clear Tier 11.

You cannot repeatedly run the Delve, collect another broken rock and finance the entire Myth upgrade track before dinner.

The value comes from getting the bonus once without using any of your normal crest allowance.

That makes it particularly useful to characters you expect to play seriously throughout Season 2.

Tier 11 Is the Real Barrier

The +2 Mythic+ requirement is trivial compared with obtaining the quest.

Tier 11 Delves are currently among the harder versions of ordinary Delve content, so undergeared characters may not want to force the completion immediately.

Season 2 Delves have become considerably more rewarding at higher tiers, but also considerably less interested in pretending every player mistake is survivable.

That is especially true while players are still leveling Valeera and building their Corrosive Gift setup. We have already seen how Season 2 Delves increasingly revolve around tougher venom mechanics and positioning checks.

If Tier 11 is comfortably within reach, however, there is very little reason to leave the Cracked Keystone reward sitting there.

Do Not Leave 50 Uncapped Mistcrests Behind

The full route is extremely simple:

  1. Complete your first Tier 11 Delve of Season 2.
  2. Loot the Cracked Keystone.
  3. Accept the quest.
  4. Complete any Season 2 Mythic+ dungeon at +2 or higher.
  5. Collect 20 Hero Mistcrests and 30 Myth Mistcrests.

Those 50 crests do not count against your normal seasonal cap.

It is not repeatable.

It is not infinite.

But during the first weeks of a season, when everyone is staring suspiciously at the crest counter before pressing Upgrade, fifty extra crests are fifty extra crests.

All you have to do is clear one Tier 11 Delve.

Then survive the terrifying challenge of a +2.
