I was playing my hunter earlier and found a bug on the quest The Storm King's Vengeance in Zul'Drak, the regular objective of the quest is that you control a mob called Gymer in order to kill a few elite mobs.

As I was doing the quest I accidentally hit my mount macro at the end which of course dismounted me, but to my surprise Gymer stayed with me as a pet, I was entirely able to kill other players and just about any mob in the area (Including the 730k health patrolling mob Thrym) and I recieved all exp from these kills, the great thing about Gymer is he has an ability that knocks players and mobs back about 100 yards which makes for great AoE mob farming on a level 74+ char.

I've been trying to recreate the bug and it is a little bit tricky, the best way I've found is to take the quest (Abandon it if you already have it) from Gymer while he's in his cage, then run over to Navarius killing scourge on the way, once you have killed Navarius you need to kill Thrym and the 100 scourge, then run north to Algar and kill him, once Algar is dead you need to run back to the cage and on the way get out of combat and use 3 to pick up a mob, then once you're back at the cage just hit your Dismount macro and if it's decided to work this time round you will have your own pet Gymer, if not just try again and again, it took me 3 tries to get it to work the 2nd time, but it is entirely possible.

What I've established so far is that you can't take Gymer outside of Zul'Drak on foot, but it is possible to get him to Dalaran, I have yet to find out how and hearthing there did not work when I tried it.

Keep this thread updated with tried and tested methods please people, I think this could be quite a valuable exploit for things like the Amphitheater of Anguish questline and just general mob grinding as Gymer will stay alive through your death, as long as he doesn't die from damage sources (Level 90 players primarily) he will not leave your side provided you stay in Zul'Drak.
