World of Warcraft and Fortnite: An Unexpected Crossover in the Making?

World of Warcraft (WoW), the veteran Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game, is hinting at a surprising crossover with Epic Games' popular battle royale, Fortnite. This intriguing development has been spotted by WoW fans and has sparked a flurry of speculation within the gaming community.

The discovery was made when datamined details of an upcoming boss encounter were revealed by Wowhead. The new enemy, dubbed the "Renegade Looter," boasts abilities that are distinctly Fortnite-themed. These include "Cranking 90s," "One Pump," "Slurp Drink," and "Disco Bomb."

"Cranking 90s" is a term used in Fortnite to describe the player's ability to rapidly construct a vertical tower. In WoW, this ability will enable the Renegade Looter boss to "rapidly construct a tower to gain the high ground." Other Fortnite items, such as the Shockwave Bomb and Disco Bomb, will also be replicated as enemy abilities in WoW. These abilities will have the effect of knocking players back or making them dance uncontrollably.

Another interesting addition is an ability named after Fortnite's storm mechanic, which will inflict 10 Nature damage every second to players who do not stay within its safe zone.

This development is a significant undertaking for Activision Blizzard, the developer of WoW, and it's not just for a simple Fortnite Easter egg. While WoW has previously referenced other video games in a humorous manner, this appears to be a more substantial crossover.

Could this be the beginning of a proper Fortnite crossover? It's a possibility. Fortnite has previously partnered with a variety of surprising properties, and this could mark the first time an Activision Blizzard property becomes part of the Fortnite universe.

However, the fact that Activision Blizzard has its own battle royale game, Warzone, raises questions about the likelihood of this crossover. It could simply be an elaborate joke confined to the WoW universe. But, as many fans have expressed, it would be exciting to see this crossover materialize.

As the gaming community eagerly awaits more information, one thing is clear: the addition of the Renegade Looter to World of Warcraft is sure to shake things up in the coming days.
