Patch 12.0.7 has found another use for your extra Field Accolades, and yes, it is cosmetics.

Of course it is cosmetics.

According to Wowhead’s latest Patch 12.0.7 PTR coverage, Blizzard has added two more bulging bags to the PTR: the Bulging Ethereal Pack and the Bulging Winter Pack. These give players a new way to spend extra Field Accolades on ethereal-themed weapons and cold-weather cosmetic gear.

In other words, the patch looked at your currency tab and said: “You thought you were done? Adorable.”

Field Accolades Get Another Job

Field Accolades are already one of Patch 12.0.7’s major outdoor currencies, earned from activities across Naigtal and Val. Players can use them for catch-up gear, Heroic caches, cosmetics, and now even more collector bait.

The two new bags are sold by Kifaan, a Consortium vendor connected to the new content. The idea is simple: if you have extra Field Accolades after dealing with gearing, you can funnel them into cosmetic pouches instead.

The Bulging Ethereal Pack contains ethereal-style weapons, including items such as the Hal’hadar Pulse Rifle, Hal’hadar Legion Glaives, and Hal’hadar Darkblade’s Edge.

The Bulging Winter Pack focuses on cold-weather gear, including pieces like the Void-Touched Winter Hood, Void-Touched Winter Tunic, Void-Touched Winter Gloves, and other winter-themed armor pieces.

That is a very specific combination: space mummy weapons and “I dressed for Val and still regret everything” winter fashion.

Collectors Are Getting Another Currency Sink

This is where Patch 12.0.7 starts to look very familiar.

Give players a new outdoor currency. Let them spend it on power. Then quietly add cosmetics so anyone who thought they were finished now has a fresh reason to keep farming.

It is not evil. It is just extremely World of Warcraft.

And honestly, it works. Cosmetics are one of the best long-term rewards in the game because they outlive item levels. A weapon appearance does not become useless next season. A winter hood does not get replaced because a dungeon boss dropped a slightly better hat with worse vibes.

MasterOfWarcraft recently covered how Patch 12.0.7 is making Lost Armament weapon transmogs less RNG-cursed, and these new Field Accolade bags fit the same broader pattern. Blizzard is giving collectors more direct ways to chase appearances without relying entirely on miserable drop rates.

The Pouches Look Like the Reliable Route

Wowhead notes that some of these items may also drop from Hal’hadar Pocket-Storage and Domanaar Storage Vessel containers scattered through the landscape.

That sounds fine until you remember what “may also drop” usually means in WoW collector language.

It means some lucky goblin will get the exact weapon they wanted on their second container, post about it, and accidentally ruin morale for everyone else. Meanwhile, normal players will open thirty boxes and receive nothing but regret and a deeper understanding of probability.

The pouches look like the better option because they give players a more focused path. You farm Field Accolades. You buy the bag. You target the theme you care about.

That does not remove the grind, but it does make the grind feel less like yelling into a wardrobe.

Patch 12.0.7 Is Becoming a Collector Patch

At this point, Patch 12.0.7 is quietly turning into a very dangerous patch for collectors.

There are targeted gear caches for players who hate RNG. There are Lost Armament weapon pouches for transmog hunters. There are Timewalking customizations, mount adjustments, and now extra Field Accolade bags for ethereal weapons and winter gear.

We recently covered how Patch 12.0.7 lets players target Hero gear slots, and the philosophy here feels similar. More control. More vendors. More currencies with very serious opinions about your free time.

The good news is that extra Field Accolades should have more value.

The bad news is that “extra” is a very temporary word when collectors are involved.

Another Bag, Another Grind

The Bulging Ethereal Pack and Bulging Winter Pack are not the loudest additions in Patch 12.0.7, but they are exactly the kind of additions that keep players farming long after the main story beats are done.

They give extra Field Accolades a purpose. They offer more cosmetic rewards. They make Naigtal and Val feel more rewarding for players who care less about catch-up gear and more about looking extremely expensive in town.

That is not a bad thing.

It just means Patch 12.0.7 is coming for your time, your currencies, and apparently your winter wardrobe.

The collector grind never sleeps.

It just changes bags.
