Midnight Season 2 includes a special first-week achievement called Fabled Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec, and completing it rewards the exclusive Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec title.
There is just one unpleasant detail.
You have to do it during the first week of Season 2.
Once that opening-week window closes, the title is gone.
Apparently fighting a giant poisonous Delve monster was not sufficiently stressful without also adding a calendar.
You Need to Beat Azta'rec Solo on Tier ??
The requirement is straightforward to read and considerably less straightforward to accomplish.
To earn Fabled Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec, you must defeat Azta'rec in his lair on Tier ?? difficulty without any other players in your party during the first week of Midnight Season 2.
Azta'rec is the Season 2 Nemesis boss found in Venomfall Deeps on the Coiled Isle, and Tier ?? represents the harder version of his special Nemesis encounter.
According to the current breakdown of the Tier ?? encounter, the fight becomes nastier during each Sermon of Ula'tek intermission. An Echo of Azta'rec appears while the boss is shielded, forcing players to deal with another set of dangerous abilities while simultaneously handling the encounter's increasingly long memory sequence.
In other words, Blizzard has not hidden the limited-time title behind killing twelve boars.
The Reward Is Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec
Completing the first-week challenge awards the title:
Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec
This is particularly interesting because Blizzard has changed how the prestige reward works compared with the previous Delve Nemesis.
Season 1's equivalent Fabled title was limited to the first 4,000 qualifying players in each region. For Azta'rec, the restriction is instead based on time. Anyone capable of completing the required solo Tier ?? kill during the opening week can earn it.
That is considerably more generous.
It is still asking you to solo one of the hardest pieces of Delve content immediately after the season starts.
Generosity remains relative.
The Apophic Soul Crusher Mount Does Not Disappear This Week
This is where the achievements become slightly confusing, because Azta'rec has another solo challenge with a much longer deadline.
The regular Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec achievement also requires defeating him alone on Tier ??, but it remains available until the next Delve season arrives. That achievement awards the Apophic Soul Crusher mount.
We previously covered the requirements in our guide to earning the Apophic Soul Crusher by defeating Azta'rec solo.
So if you cannot kill him this week, you are not losing the mount.
You are losing the Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec title.
That distinction matters before anyone begins converting caffeine directly into Delve attempts.
There Are More Reasons to Kill Him Early
The title is not the only reason ambitious players may want to tackle Azta'rec quickly.
We have already looked at how Azta'rec can award Hero and Myth Mistcrests beyond the normal weekly crest cap. Those rewards are one-time bonuses rather than an infinite farm, but extra upgrade currency is particularly valuable during the opening week of a season.
Players pushing the encounter are also trying to squeeze additional power out of the new Delve systems. One useful preparation route is the current method for leveling Valeera toward the new level 80 companion cap.
Corrosive Gifts can matter too, which is why the recently discovered six guaranteed Corrosive Souls available from weekly alt activities suddenly look considerably more interesting for players trying to maximise every available advantage.
Gear.
Valeera.
Corrosive Powers.
Then practice.
Quite a lot of practice, probably.
You Only Get This Week for the Fabled Title
The important thing is not to confuse the various Azta'rec rewards.
- Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec title: Solo Tier ?? during the first week of Season 2.
- Apophic Soul Crusher mount: Solo Tier ?? before the next Delve season.
- The Poisonous title: Defeat Tier ?? before the next Delve season.
If you mainly want the mount, there is no need to panic.
If you want the Fabled title, however, this is the week.
There will be better gear later.
Valeera will get stronger.
Players will learn the fight.
None of that helps when the achievement specifically asks whether you were able to do it now.
Azta'rec will still be waiting next week.
The Fabled title will not.
