World of Warcraft: Forever does not even launch until November, and players may already have found the first pieces of one of its biggest post-launch secrets.

Blizzard has officially confirmed that Forever will receive a new Legendary questline in Spring 2027. That much is real. What the Legendary actually is remains secret, but fresh datamining has uncovered references to Moonglade, Un’Goro, Hyjal, an Elune ritual, profession contributions and something ominously named Archimonde’s Fall.

Before anybody starts clearing bank space for their new orange weapon, there is an important warning: most of the actual Legendary data remains encrypted. The current findings reveal pieces surrounding the questline rather than the complete story, and several conclusions remain speculation.

Still, the pieces are becoming extremely interesting.

The Questline Appears to Have Three Stages

According to Wowhead’s analysis of the current Forever beta files, the Legendary appears to contain three major stages, each associated with its own tracking quest.

Readable data points toward several locations. One entry references the Barrow Dens in Moonglade and a conversation with a Satyr. Another mentions an Un’Goro Pylon puzzle, suggesting Blizzard may be turning one of Classic’s stranger archaeological mysteries into part of an endgame quest.

That feels very Forever.

As we have already seen with Blizzard deliberately hiding undiscovered loot information, the entire project is trying to restore some mystery to Azeroth rather than allowing every answer to exist in a database before players arrive.

Archimonde May Be Waiting at the End

The most dramatic discovery is a screen effect labelled “Legendary - Solo Encounter - Archimonde - Darken Skies.”

Another encrypted area is apparently called Archimonde’s Fall.

That immediately points toward Mount Hyjal, where Archimonde was destroyed beneath Nordrassil at the end of Warcraft III. Hyjal is already a major part of Forever’s new world content, fitting neatly with the broader Classic+ philosophy behind WoW Forever.

If the datamining represents the final design, players may eventually face some version of Archimonde alone as part of the Legendary chain.

Which is certainly one way of making “go collect twelve bear hearts” feel slightly underwhelming afterward.

An Elune Ritual and a Mysterious Branch

Other data references an Elune Ritual apparently connected to the transition between the first and second stages of the Legendary.

Then things get even more suspicious.

A spell refers to charging a “Branch” with the power of an entity called Stormwraith. Stormwraith appears linked to Sylvestris Dusksong, a boss associated with Forever’s Hyjal raid content.

That has naturally produced the theory that the Legendary itself could somehow be created from a branch of Nordrassil.

Wowhead currently speculates that the item may be healer-focused, possibly a staff or dagger, although that conclusion relies partly on incomplete and even explicitly unused data. Blizzard has confirmed none of those details.

Professions May Be Required

Perhaps the most interesting design clue is that crafting professions appear to participate directly in the questline.

Encrypted files prevent us from seeing the exact materials, but current triggers suggest multiple crafting professions may each need to contribute a specific reagent. Engineering appears to provide some form of parts, while other professions have their own unidentified contributions.

That fits perfectly with Forever’s wider profession overhaul. Blizzard is already adding more than 600 new recipes and making professions part of the open world. A Legendary that requires help from several crafters would push that philosophy directly into endgame progression.

Blizzard Is Still Hiding Most of It

The important thing is what we still cannot see.

The actual quests, major items, spells, Archimonde map and boss encounter are largely encrypted. Blizzard clearly does not want the entire Legendary solved months before players can start it.

So the current picture is more archaeological excavation than finished guide.

We have Moonglade. Un’Goro. Elune. Hyjal. Professions. A mysterious branch. And possibly Archimonde waiting beneath a darkened sky.

For a Legendary questline that Blizzard officially describes with only three words on a roadmap, that is already quite a trail of breadcrumbs.

Now we just need to avoid eating all of them before Spring 2027.
