WoW Forever is still in beta, characters are currently capped at level 20, and somehow the bots have already reached Winterspring.

That is almost impressive.

The problem centered on the redesigned Tauren racial Cultivation, which allows Tauren characters to duplicate a nearby herb and harvest the new node without needing the normal Herbalism skill. Low-level characters discovered they could repeatedly death-run into high-level zones such as Winterspring, reach valuable herb spawns and use Cultivation on materials including Mountain Silversage, Icecap and even Black Lotus.

Blizzard has now changed the racial to prevent exactly that. Cultivation receives character-level requirements based on the herb being duplicated, while herbs requiring more than 300 Herbalism effectively require a level 60 character. At the same time, Blizzard has dramatically reduced Cultivation’s cooldown from 23 hours to just one hour. The Original Version Had a Rather Large Loophole

Forever substantially redesigned the old Tauren Herbalism bonus. Instead of simply granting additional Herbalism skill, Cultivation can create a duplicate of an existing herb nearby. The duplicate can then be gathered even if the Tauren does not have the Herbalism skill normally required for that plant. ([wowhead.com](https://www.wowhead.com/forever/guide/professions/herbalism/overview-leveling?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

Originally, character level was not part of the equation.

That meant an extremely low-level Tauren could theoretically travel, die, resurrect slightly farther along, die again and eventually reach herb nodes intended for characters dozens of levels higher. Once there, Cultivation bypassed the normal gathering requirement.

The current level-20 beta does not exactly have a thriving endgame Black Lotus economy, so the immediate damage is limited. The interesting part is that botters were already testing how the racial could be abused once Forever launches with a real economy.

Apparently bots also participate in beta testing. They simply file their bug reports differently.

Higher-Level Herbs Now Require Higher-Level Characters

Blizzard’s solution is fairly elegant.

The level requirement for Cultivation is now derived from the Herbalism skill normally required to gather the herb. According to the current implementation, the character level requirement equals that gathering requirement divided by five. Herbs beyond 300 Herbalism require level 60. ([icy-veins.com](https://www.icy-veins.com/wow-forever/news/blizzard-fights-back-against-bots-on-the-wow-forever-beta//?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

That preserves what makes the racial interesting without allowing a freshly created Tauren to stroll, or more accurately corpse-hop, into Winterspring and manufacture high-level materials.

Blizzard also shortened the cooldown from 23 hours to one hour, so legitimate players can actually use Cultivation regularly while leveling instead of treating it like an annual family gathering. The current spell data lists a three-second cast, 10-yard range and one-hour cooldown. ([wowhead.com](https://www.wowhead.com/forever/spell%3D1312643/cultivation?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

Professions Are Becoming a Serious Part of Forever’s Economy

The timing matters because Blizzard is putting far more emphasis on gathering and crafting in Forever than Classic players may expect.

We recently covered how Forever is improving the profession interface with recipe tracking, search and better filters, while more than 600 new profession recipes are being added across the game. Herbalism itself interacts with Camping through new creations such as Greenhouses and Seed Hybridizers. ([wowhead.com](https://www.wowhead.com/forever/guide/camping-overview-unlock-rewards?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

That means herb availability and gathering racials potentially matter much more than they would in a temporary beta economy.

Forever’s profession economy is supposed to be part of the leveling experience, and our WoW Forever beginner’s guide already recommends gathering professions as a useful source of both materials and gold. A racial capable of producing rare endgame herbs on throwaway low-level characters could have become a very different kind of gold-making strategy.

The Bot War Has Arrived Before Launch

Nobody should expect this one change to solve botting in World of Warcraft.

It does, however, show why Forever’s beta matters beyond class tuning and quest bugs. New systems create new loopholes, and players running automated characters tend to discover profitable loopholes remarkably quickly.

Blizzard has now closed one before launch while actually making the racial better for normal Tauren players.

The bots reached Winterspring early.

Blizzard was waiting for them.
