Blizzard is running another Play with the Blues event on the 12.0.5 PTR tonight, this time focused on Abyss Anglers. The test is scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2026, from 21:00 to 22:00 CET on any PTR realm, making it a short, very specific window for players who want an early hands-on look at the feature.

Blizzard Is Framing This as a Proper Feature Test

According to Blizzard’s official forum post, this is not just a casual drop-in community event. The studio says it wants players to join members of the World of Warcraft development team in Zul’Aman on the PTR to help stress test the upcoming Abyss Anglers. Blizzard is also specifically asking for feedback on the event’s aiming and harpooning mechanics, which gives a pretty clear idea of what part of the feature it wants tested under live player pressure.

How to Join the Abyss Anglers Test

Blizzard says players need to pick up the quest “Joining the Abyss Anglers” from Depthdiver Jeju, who is located on the small island east of the Temple of Jan’alai in Zul’Aman. After that, players can speak with Jeju again to start a dive. Blizzard also says the event is open to level 90 characters and that endgame content has been unlocked for the test.

Why This Matters More Than a Small PTR Side Activity

Blizzard also highlighted Abyss Anglers in the latest 12.0.5 PTR Development Notes, where it told players to join developers for the test at 1:00 p.m. PDT on Friday. That extra mention matters, because it suggests Abyss Anglers is one of the PTR features Blizzard actively wants exposed to real players right now, not something quietly parked in the background. That last part is an inference, but it is a grounded one based on Blizzard calling the event out both in a dedicated forum post and in the main PTR notes.

The Real Hook

For players, the pitch is simple: this is a one-hour opportunity to see how Abyss Anglers actually feels before it goes live, while also helping Blizzard test whether the mechanic holds up when real people start poking at it all at once. If you were already planning to hop onto the PTR tonight, this is probably the most direct reason to do it.
