You unlock access to the toy at Rank 3 of the Midnight Season 2 Delver’s Journey, after which it can be purchased from Telemancer Astrandis at the Delver’s Headquarters in Silvermoon City for just 10 Voidlight Marl. For anybody already progressing through Bountiful Delves, this is less a serious grind and more a reminder to visit the vendor before spending another evening pretending cosmetics are not character progression.
How to Get the Effigy of Dundun
The basic route is simple:
- Progress the Season 2 Delver’s Journey to Rank 3.
- Visit Telemancer Astrandis at the Delver’s Headquarters in Silvermoon City.
- Purchase Effigy of Dundun for 10 Voidlight Marl.
- Add it to your Toy Box.
Delver’s Journey progress comes naturally from doing Season 2 Delves. Bountiful Delves contribute to the track, as do opening Bountiful Coffers and completing some associated Delve objectives. If you have been regularly participating in the system since Season 2 began, Rank 3 should already be within reach or completed.
Rank 3 also unlocks another very Dundun-related benefit: Shrines of Abundance can begin appearing inside Bountiful Delves, providing additional rewards if you find them. Apparently Dundun has moved from being a character into an entire economic philosophy.
The Dundun Transformation Lasts 30 Minutes
Using the toy causes Dundun to appear briefly before giving your character a much smaller, greener appearance for 30 minutes.
The transformation is surprisingly robust.
You can:
- Enter combat without losing it.
- Cast spells and use abilities.
- Use shapeshifting abilities without permanently cancelling the effect.
- Run raids and dungeons while transformed.
Shapeshift forms can temporarily override the visible Dundun model, but the transformation effect remains active and can return afterward. The same basic behavior can occur when using certain mounts.
That makes Effigy of Dundun considerably more entertaining than toys that vanish the moment somebody looks at you aggressively. You can actually spend a substantial chunk of a dungeon or raid running around as Dundun rather than standing beside a mailbox for fifteen seconds before the novelty expires.
Season 2 Delves have already made Dundun useful in less cosmetic ways. Our fast Valeera leveling guide uses Dundun’s Favor to automatically collect Mislaid Curiosities, turning Ring of Glory into one of the quickest ways to push the Season 2 companion toward level 80.
Now you can become the creature responsible for the strategy.
Career progression.
Combat Does Not Break It — Death Does
There is one important limitation.
Dying removes the Dundun transformation.
That means the 30-minute duration is technically an upper limit rather than a guarantee. If your Mythic+ group decides one defensive cooldown was probably enough, your glorious abundance may end somewhat earlier.
The toy itself has a one-hour cooldown, so you cannot immediately reactivate it after dying. Even under perfect circumstances, there is roughly half an hour between the end of one full transformation and the next activation.
That prevents Effigy of Dundun from becoming a permanent character appearance in the way some older transformation items can effectively be maintained forever.
Still, 30 minutes is long enough to cover a respectable portion of most activities.
Especially if you remain alive.
Dundun Is Becoming the Unofficial Mascot of Season 2 Delves
What makes the toy particularly fitting is how much Dundun has quietly become part of Season 2’s Delve identity.
Dundun’s Favor is already one of the most useful utility Curios for efficiently collecting Mislaid Curiosities. Shrines of Abundance become available through the same Rank 3 Journey threshold as the toy. And now the creature itself can become your character model for half an hour.
That provides a welcome contrast to how serious the rest of Season 2 Delve progression has become.
Players are fighting Azta’rec for high-end rewards and previously had to defeat the Nemesis solo during the first week to earn the limited Fabled Vanquisher title. Tier 11 can provide the Cracked Keystone route to 50 Mistcrests outside the weekly cap, and Patch 12.1.5 will push solo progression further with the enormous Labyrinth of Kindo’jan.
We have even reached the point where Labyrinths are getting their own permanent glove enhancements.
Against all of that optimization, Effigy of Dundun asks considerably less from you.
Reach Rank 3.
Spend 10 Marl.
Become small.
Season 2’s Best Delve Reward May Be the Least Useful One
Effigy of Dundun will not increase your item level.
It will not help you beat Azta’rec.
It does not provide Mistcrests, Myth gear or another complicated upgrade currency.
It simply lets you become Dundun for 30 minutes while continuing to fight normally.
And sometimes that is exactly what a seasonal progression track needs.
World of Warcraft already has enough rewards designed to improve your damage by 1.7%.
This one improves your Dundun by 100%.
