World of Warcraft’s final Venomous Ayss Raid Finder wing opens with this week’s regional reset, which means LFR players can finally reach The Coiled Altar and Ula’tek without stepping into Normal difficulty. The Tomb of Ula’tek opens on September 8 in North America and September 9 in Europe, completing the four-week Raid Finder rollout that began when Midnight Season 2 launched in August. The minimum item level remains 273.
For players who have been following the raid exclusively through Raid Finder, this is the missing finale. Wing 3 opened last week with The Lost Explorers and Sszorak, leaving the raid’s two most notorious encounters locked away for one final reset. Now LFR groups get to discover what raiders have spent the last few weeks discussing in increasingly impolite terms.
Venomous Abyss Raid Finder Wing 4 Bosses
The final wing is called The Tomb of Ula’tek and contains only two bosses:
- The Coiled Altar
- Ula’tek
That may sound like a small wing, but Blizzard has saved most of the raid’s endgame drama for these two encounters. The Coiled Altar became one of the defining bosses of the Race to World First, with Team Liquid requiring 310 pulls to defeat the Mythic version. Blizzard later reduced Mythic Defilement’s healing absorb by 20% after initially experimenting with the same change during progression.
Raid Finder will obviously not reproduce that Mythic experience. Nobody entering through LFR should assume Blizzard intends to recreate a 310-pull progression wall for a randomly assembled Tuesday afternoon group. But the wing still gives a much wider group of players access to the encounter designs, story and loot that have defined the back half of Season 2’s raid.
Ula’tek Is the Final Boss of The Venomous Abyss
Ula’tek is the eighth and final boss of The Venomous Abyss, and her arrival in Raid Finder marks the first time the entire raid is available through matchmaking.
The Mythic version became infamous almost immediately. We covered how one mishandled Blightscale egg could leave the raid with a stacking debuff lasting an entire hour, while Blizzard later nerfed Blight Vein by 25% and shortened Soul Constrictor from six seconds to five as progression continued.
Eventually, Team Liquid defeated Ula’tek after more than 300 pulls and won its fifth consecutive Race to World First. Echo killed the boss less than half an hour later, providing the sort of finish that makes three weeks of watching raid frames suddenly seem like a sensible hobby.
The LFR version will naturally strip away much of that punishment, but the encounter is still the conclusion of the raid’s story and the final destination for players who have been progressing one Raid Finder wing at a time.
When Does Raid Finder Wing 4 Open?
Blizzard’s release schedule ties Raid Finder unlocks to each region’s normal weekly maintenance reset.
That means:
- North America — September 8, 2026
- Europe — September 9, 2026
This distinction matters today. If you are playing on European realms on September 8, the wing is not open yet. It arrives with Wednesday’s European reset.
Blizzard’s full Venomous Abyss Raid Finder rollout has been:
- Wing 1: The Soulcoilers — Nek’zali the Soulcoiler and The Twin Fangs
- Wing 2: The Essence of Venom — Entombed Sentinels and Vashnik the Malignant
- Wing 3: The Serpent Warren — The Lost Explorers and Sszorak
- Wing 4: The Tomb of Ula’tek — The Coiled Altar and Ula’tek
Story Mode has already been available since the second week of the raid, but Raid Finder is the version that matters for players who want repeatable matchmaking-based access to the encounters and their loot.
You Need Item Level 273 to Queue
The minimum item level for The Venomous Abyss Raid Finder remains 273.
At this stage of Season 2, that threshold should be fairly accessible even for characters that have not been aggressively raiding or pushing Mythic+. Delves, world content, crafted gear and the Great Vault provide multiple ways to get beyond the requirement, while Season 2’s Great Vault gives players several different routes toward meaningful weekly upgrades.
The raid has also been intentionally designed to become easier as the season progresses. Before Season 2 began, we explained how Blizzard built multiple catch-up and power-growth systems around making The Venomous Abyss progressively more manageable. Opening the final LFR wing is another step in that process: the raid content that began as World First territory is now reaching the broadest matchmaking audience.
The Raid Skip Does Not Affect Raid Finder Progression
It is worth separating this week’s LFR unlock from another recent Venomous Abyss development.
The Venomous Abyss raid skip is now available to players who completed Deception Unmasked after three Coiled Altar kills across separate weekly lockouts. That shortcut helps organized Normal, Heroic and Mythic groups bypass much of the raid when targeting the final encounters.
Raid Finder does not need that system. Its bosses are already divided into separate queueable wings, so players can simply select The Tomb of Ula’tek once the wing becomes available in their region.
No Nek’zali.
No blood door.
No walking through half the raid.
For once, Raid Finder genuinely has the shorter route.
The Entire Venomous Abyss Is Now Available to LFR Players
With Wing 4 opening, the staggered Raid Finder rollout is complete. Every boss in The Venomous Abyss can now be experienced through LFR once the September 8/9 regional reset has occurred.
That makes this week particularly useful for players who joined Season 2 late, alts looking for raid gear or anyone who simply wanted to see Ula’tek without joining an organized Normal group.
The Coiled Altar is waiting.
Ula’tek is waiting behind it.
And unlike the World First raiders, you probably will not need 300 pulls.
