Blizzard has moved the Mythic+ goalposts again.

When Midnight Patch 12.1.5 arrives in Europe on October 14, Keystone Myth returns with a new requirement: 3,600 Mythic+ rating. That is 200 points above Season 1’s 3,400 target, but the difference is considerably nastier than the number makes it look.

According to the current rating calculations, Season 1’s target could be reached with roughly +16s across the dungeon pool. Season 2’s 3,600 requirement pushes players toward having more than half of the dungeons completed around +18.

Two hundred points. Several additional opportunities to question every life decision made inside Group Finder.

Keystone Myth Is Becoming a Proper Late-Season Challenge

Keystone Myth was introduced during Midnight Season 1 as a fixed prestige target above Keystone Legend but below the percentage-based seasonal rewards. We covered the original 3,400-rating Keystone Myth chase when Blizzard activated it earlier this year, and the idea was fairly simple: give strong Mythic+ players another reason to keep climbing without requiring them to compete for a top 1% or top 0.1% regional position.

Season 2 raises the bar significantly.

The new Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2 achievement requires 3,600 rating and rewards the title “the Venomous Contender” alongside a Timelost Saddle. The saddle can be exchanged for one of the eligible seasonal Keystone mounts, so players who missed an older reward still have something tangible to chase.

Blizzard says the threshold was chosen using both current rating data and the additional player power still coming later in the season. That last part matters because Patch 12.1.5 is also introducing another round of gearing progression.

Players Are About to Get More Powerful

Beginning the week after the patch launches, players will start working toward Ascendant Venomstones. As we explained in our guide to Ascendant Venomstone upgrades, these can push fully upgraded Season 2 weapons, trinkets and necklaces beyond their normal item-level ceiling.

The seasonal crest cap will also disappear later in October.

In other words, Blizzard is not asking players to clear +18s with exactly the characters they have today. Another wave of power is coming, and Keystone Myth appears deliberately positioned as something players grow into during the second half of the season rather than something everyone was supposed to finish during September.

Blizzard Is Also Tuning the Dungeon Pool

There is another important sentence buried in Blizzard’s announcement: targeted dungeon tuning adjustments are coming with Keystone Myth to deal with difficulty outliers.

That admission is particularly interesting because Season 2 has produced some unusually strong completion numbers. We recently looked at how more than 91% of recorded Season 2 Mythic+ runs were being completed within the timer, with more than 80% of completed runs happening at +10 or above.

That does not mean every dungeon becomes equally friendly once the key reaches +18.

At those levels, small tuning differences become large problems. A boss ability that feels merely unpleasant at +10 can become the mechanic responsible for four people staring silently at the release button while somebody types “?” into party chat.

Blizzard has not yet detailed exactly which dungeons or encounters will receive adjustments, but the developer clearly knows that a fixed 3,600-rating target only works if the dungeon pool is reasonably balanced.

3,600 Is More Than Just 200 Extra Points

The important takeaway is that Keystone Myth is becoming more serious.

Season 1 established the system. Season 2 is testing how far Blizzard can push it without turning a fixed prestige achievement into something only percentage-title players bother attempting.

With stronger gear, targeted dungeon nerfs and several weeks remaining in the season, 3,600 may eventually become much more approachable than it looks today.

But right now, the message is simple.

Those +16s you were proud of last season?

Lovely.

Blizzard would like another two key levels, please.
